Governing Philosophy

Leadership is stewardship, not ownership.

Every person who serves WEB3MB is entrusted with leaving the institution stronger than they found it. Success is measured not only by growth but by integrity, service, and the trust cultivated over time. Decisions here are made against that standard first.

Decision Making

How institutional decisions get made.

The specific decision-making process — who is consulted, how disagreements are resolved, and what requires founder sign-off versus broader review — will be published here as WEB3MB’s internal governance structure formalizes. We won’t describe a process in more detail than currently exists.

Methodology Updates

Nothing changes silently.

Every change to the Trust Methodology or Trust Standards is dated, versioned, and accompanied by a public change log — visible on those pages once published. A methodology that changes without a visible record isn’t accountable; it’s just different.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Independence is part of the standard.

A formal, published conflict-of-interest policy — covering financial relationships with reviewed projects, disclosure requirements, and recusal rules — will appear here once finalized. It is being written with the same care as the Trust Methodology itself, not drafted quickly to fill this section.

Corrections Policy

We will correct our mistakes publicly.

This is one of the seven commitments in The Promise, and it applies here structurally, not just as a statement: when a finding, a score, or a piece of published research is found to be wrong, the correction will be dated, explained, and left visible alongside the original — not quietly edited away.

Appeals Process

Projects can challenge a finding.

The formal appeals process — how a project disputes a verification finding or Trust Score, what evidence is considered, and expected turnaround — will be published alongside the Verification and Trust Methodology pages, since it’s procedurally part of both.

Transparency Commitments

WEB3MB’s core transparency commitments are published in full on The Promise — publishing our methodology, welcoming constructive scrutiny, and earning trust through evidence, among others. Governance exists to make sure those commitments are actually kept.

Annual Institutional Review

Accountable to our own history, every year.

WEB3MB will publish an Annual Letter reflecting on the institution’s progress, mistakes, and priorities — modeled on the tradition of an annual shareholder letter, but written for anyone who wants to hold WEB3MB accountable. The first letter will be published once there is a meaningful year of institutional history to reflect on, not before.

Future Advisory Council

Not yet formed.

WEB3MB intends to establish an advisory council to provide external oversight and challenge as the institution grows. No council currently exists, and no members have been named. This section will be updated the moment that changes — not before.
